OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — People in the City of Okanogan should be sure to boil their drinking water this Christmas.
According to Okanogan County Emergency Management, the City of Okanogan, about a two-and-a-half hour drive northwest of Spokane, is under a boil water advisory on Wednesday, December 25.
As of 2 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said the Public Works Department was conducting water sampling in the city and chlorinating the reservoirs in order to disinfect them.
The advisory has been in place since December 22 due to a water main break near 2nd Avenue and Queen Street.
During the advisory, homes and businesses may receive dirty water.
Okanogan County Emergency Management recommends people in the city flush water through the bathtub, take screens off faucets and boil any water meant for consumption.
Officials did not provide an estimated day or time for when the boil water advisory may be lifted.
