SPOKANE, Wash. — Two elderly people were hospitalized after a car crash on I-90 in southwest Spokane on Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. on December 24, Washington State Patrol responded to a car crash on I-90 near the Garden Springs exit, about eight minutes east of the Spokane Airport.
When troopers arrived, they found a car on fire and two elderly people who had been pulled from the car by bystanders before it bust into flames.
According to WSP, the car was driving eastbound on I-90 when it hit a barrier wall on the left-hand side and crossed all of the lanes before crashing on the Garden Springs exit ramp.
Both of the elderly people who were inside the car were taken to a nearby hospital. One person was described as having “serious” injuries.
WSP said they suspect a medical issue might have contributed to the crash.
As of 2 p.m., WSP said the Garden Springs exit is closed and expected to reopen around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
WSP is investigating the cause of the crash.
