SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing child pornography this month.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington, 39-year-old Nathan Roy Stout will also be on a lifetime of supervised release and forced to pay restitutions of $9,000 for his crime.
Court documents and information at the sentencing stated that Stout was living in the Residential Reentry Center (RRC) in January of 2023 following a previous conviction in 2018 for distributing child pornography.
While at the RRC, a staff member found out there was child pornography on Stout’s cell phone.
Stout later told his case manager that he had been downloading the materials and deleting it.
An FBI investigation found 116 files on Stout’s phone of young children being sexually abused. The investigation also found multiple file cleaners designed to erase files on the phone.
“Mr. Stout downloaded child exploitation material, even while serving a sentence for a similar crime,” stated United States Attorney Vanessa Waldref. “Every case we investigate and prosecute – every victim identified and rescued – brings some level of justice for those who suffer the tragic effects of child abuse and exploitation.”
