COEUR d’Alene, Idaho – A man dressed as a snowman who was posing for pictures in The Shops at the Coeur d’Alene Resort will not face criminal charges for hugging a teenage girl and causing one teen to trip and hit her head.
Coeur d’Alene Police detailed the incident in a news release Friday and said they reviewed surveillance video of the incident.
According to police, a man employed as a snowman on the Lake Coeur d’Alene cruises was taking pictures and interacting with kids and adults at The Shops Thursday.
He approached a 16-year-old girl who has “an intense fear of mascots.”
Police say as the snowman approached, the girl backed up against the wall and shook her head no.
The snowman hugged her, then walked away.
The victim’s friends started running away and one of them tripped and hit her head. She was evaluated by medics at the scene.
The girl’s parents were contacted, but according to police “were unsure if they wanted to press charges for battery.”
Police interviewed the man who was dressed as a snowman, but said at this time there is no threat to the community and no one has been charged.
