CHICAGO, IL — Spokane-native and MLB great Ryne Sandberg has announced a recurrence with cancer.
On Instagram, Sandberg announced his prostate cancer returned and spread to other organs which will require intensive treatment.
Sandberg is a graduate from North Central High School and played most of his career with the Chicago Cubs and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
North Central renamed its baseball field after him.
In January 2024, Sandberg announced a battle with metastatic prostate cancer.
