COLFAX, Wash. — A Moses Lake man was arrested for stealing a generator from a home in Colfax Friday morning.
According to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office, calls came in about a burglary on North Cedar Street just before 10:30 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Office said a neighbor spotted Hunter Grant, 25 of Moses Lake, pulling a generator through the grass of a home and loading it into the trunk of his vehicle. Grant was reportedly wearing a full mask that only exposed his eyes at that time.
Deputies confirmed the generator was stolen from an unattached garage and got the license plate information from the neighbor who called. They were able to confirm the vehicle was out of Moses Lake and entered its information into a license plate recognition camera system.
Later that afternoon, Moses Lake Police were alerted that the vehicle was back in Moses Lake and they were able to arrest Grant.
Grant was taken back to Whitman County and booked into Whitman County Jail for second-degree burglary and second-degree theft charges.
The stolen generator was found at a home in Colfax and returned to the victim.
