COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Over a million holiday lights now fill the streets of downtown Coeur d’Alene following Friday night’s tree lighting ceremony.
Thousands of people took to the streets of downtown Friday afternoon, embracing the cold and each other and celebrating the city’s decades-old tradition of lighting up the town.
Before the big event of the night, it was the parade of lights and music that led people to line the streets.
“I love coming to the parade every year,” said Coeur d’Alene resident Darcy Dodgson. “No matter if it’s cold, no matter if it’s raining. Every year I come.”
One man told 4 News Now he and his wife drove from Montana to catch this beautiful holiday display.
Once the parade came to an end, that’s when the real show began. A vibrant display of lights illuminating Lake Coeur d’Alene, mesmerizing all who had the chance to see.
The display consists of more than 1.5 million lights, kicking off the arrival of the holidays for the city of Coeur d’Alene.
“I really like seeing how excited everyone is,” Dodgson said. “It doesn’t even matter your age, there’s everybody here.”
