CHENEY, Wash. – A record-breaking day saw the Eastern Washington Eagles (4-7) lay 77 points on the Idaho State Bengals (5-6) in a five-score win to avenge last season’s loss.
The win today shattered the all-time mark for most points scored against an FCS opponent, most team rushing yards (478) and most team rushing touchdowns (10).
Quarterback Kekoa Visperas was a perfect 14-14 passing for 206 yards and a touchdown, and he led the Eags to eleven scoring drives: no field goals and no punts, too.
The rushing attack was the brightest star of the day, seeing nine rushers carry the rock and two rushing over the century mark, including a career-high 163 yards on the ground for running back Jared Taylor and 109 yards on just five carries for senior Michael Wortham.
EWU returns for their final game this season at Northern Arizona next Saturday at noon in Flagstaff.
