SPOKANE, Wash. — The man who died in the Spokane County Jail last week was facing charges of assaulting his parents and, while in custody, threatened the life of a corrections deputy.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the man as 36-year-old Bryce Larson. The medical examiner says Larson died in an incident at the jail Friday, November 8.
According to documents filed in Spokane County Superior Court, Larson was in jail for an arrest in September 2023 where he was accused of strangling his father and assaulting his mother at their Medical Lake home over an Amazon package.
While in custody on August 1, 2024, Larson was accused of threatening to have a sniper go to the home of the one of the corrections deputies and kill him.
The court documents say Larson described the deputy’s home and surroundings in detail. He was arrested again for harassment with threats to kill.
Larson was in court November 8 for a status hearing and had a trial date set for December 9.
Less than two hours after his appearance, Larson was found dead in his cell.
The medical examiner will release the cause and manner of Larson’s death at a later time. Larson also had five previous felony convictions.
