COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — People in North Idaho will soon have easy access to some of their favorite Trader Joe’s snacks.
The Coeur d’Alene Trader Joes is set to open the morning of November 12.
Before the new location, many in the area would have to drive to Spokane to shop at Trader Joe’s.
Now, people are excited they can stay close to home and still grab some Joe-Joe’s cookies.
“Oh I like Trader Joe’s. I’ve shopped with them from California, all the way up to Tumwater, over in Spokane. They have the world’s best cookies. I know that,” said Coeur d’Alene resident, Ken Davis.
Jackee Piller, the CDA store manager and Coeur d’Alene native, said she is looking forward to bringing Trader Joe’s to her community.
“We have lots of signage in the store that reflects things in the community. We have murals that feature bald eagles and Tubbs Hill and the lake and a number of other things we feel like our customers will be excited to see,” she said.
The new store will also partner with local food banks and distributors to provide high-quality food to those in need.
Any food that is not sold, but still good to eat, will be donated to local organizations each day of the week.
“We’re working with 2nd Harvest and CAP, which is Community Action Partners. And we do that seven days a week. So, we’re going to be able to donate and give back to the neighborhood in other ways than just providing a great grocery store to shop in,” said Piller.
The store will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony.
