SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite a 38-38 halftime tie and several second-half lead changes, at the end, it’s still the same ole Zags.
The No. 6 Gonzaga Bulldogs men’s basketball team staved off a hungry Arizona State Sun Devil team that shot 47.6% from the field, just shy of the Zags’ 50.0%, their second game making half or more of their shots.
Sophomore forward Braden Huff tallied a team-high 21 points off the bench, and Arkansas transfer Khalif Battle added 19 second-half points, punctuated by a now-viral one-handed alley-oop jam.
Gonzaga is now 2-0 against the Big 12, and still has a third team in the conference to play when the Bulldogs play the West Virginia Mountaineers in a couple weeks in the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.
The Zags stick at home for their next game, hosting last season’s American East regular-season champion UMass Lowell this Friday at 6:00 p.m.
