WA STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION
Washington voters are so far choosing to keep the current Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Chris Reykdal is leading the race as of 10:59 p.m. on election night with 53.51% of the vote to David Olson’s 45.94%.
Reykdal has been the state executive in charge of Washington schools since 2017.
Olson has criticized Reykdal’s leadership, saying too much money is being spent on Washington schools for kids who “can’t read and write at grade level.”
The Superintendent of Public Instruction is elected every four years and leads the agency in charge of overseeing K-12 schools.
Reykdal won the primary, garnering 39% of the vote to Olson’s 31%.
