SPOKANE, Wash. — Nuestras Raices held its 10th annual Day of the Dead event Saturday, a holiday that honors ancestors and loved ones.
Unlike the somber tone that often accompanies the western notions of death, this vibrant event was filled with color, music and delicious food.
“Coming together, food, and really being together and blessing this space,” said Fernanda Mazcot, the executive director of Nuestras Raices.
The event had around 12 vendors, live performances of traditional music and rituals that captures the spirit of the celebration.
