POST FALLS, Idaho — Did you get an alert? The National Weather Service warned people of a potential flash flood due to an issue with the Post Falls Dam.
NWS said the Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Tuesday night.
The Weather Service says an incident was reported to them by Avista, and NWS is warning of a potential flooding in low-lying areas of Spokane and Kootenai.
According to Avista, a crane failure occurred on the Post Falls Dam North Channel Spillway. Avista says one person was injured and taken to an area hospital.
Avista says at this point, there does not appear to be significant damage to the dam nor the power generators. There are also no safety concerns for people.
Avista told 4 News Now the National Weather Service misreported the information and is working through its Emergency Action Plan process to see how this happened.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
