SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane Police arrested a man suspected of murder Wednesday morning after barricading himself in a vehicle on I-90 west of Spokane.
On October 23 at 7:50 a.m., Washington State Patrol (WSP) discovered a disabled stolen vehicle on I-90 near Cheney with 38-year-old Damian C. Eiffert inside.
According to SPD, Eiffert was uncooperative and claimed to have a gun, prompting the closure of I-90 in both directions and the response of multiple law enforcement units.
After negotiations failed, Eiffert fled the vehicle on foot and was quickly apprehended.
Eiffert is the primary suspect for murdering his father Tuesday afternoon.
According to SPD, officers responded to a reported stabbing near Thor Street and 1st Avenue. A male victim was found with stab wounds and died at the scene, despite lifesaving efforts.
Investigators determined the suspect was the victim’s son. An arrest warrant was issued for Eiffert.
Eiffert was arrested for second-degree murder.
The victim’s name and cause of death will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office.
