COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Move over Halloween, tree cutting permits are now available.
The Idaho Panhandle National Forests (IPNF) have announced that Christmas tree cutting permits can be purchased at ranger stations and online for $5.00 each.
Each permit allows the cutting of one tree up to twelve feet tall, with a maximum stump height of six inches, and individuals can buy up to three permits per season.
Guidance on tree selection and cutting locations is available online and at local ranger stations.
Fourth graders with an ‘Every Kid Outdoors’ pass can obtain a free permit (with a $2.50 reservation fee).
