LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Residents in Liberty Lake are discussing safety concerns following a series of thefts in the area.
“You think, oh, it’s easy. And, you know, we don’t have to be careful. But now we’re being more careful,” said Lyn Tollackson.
The notice sent by the Liberty Lake Police Department (LLPD) alerted the entire city about prowlers attempting to steal from residents.
“When we received that notice this morning from the HOA and the police department, it really woke us up again,” said John Tollackson.
The LLPD said to roll up windows, lock doors, and avoid leaving personal items that could identify anyone and their homes, including garage door openers.
Another recommendation from the LLPD is one that the Tollacksons have recently taken up.
“We turn on our porch lights, both front and back,” Lyn said. “It’s pretty well lit, and we’ve never done that before, but we’ve started lately.”
