SANDPOINT, Idaho – A North Idaho man arrested last month on murder charges committed the crime in 2019 then destroyed evidence, according to court documents just unsealed.
Prosecutors say Jordan Jarrad Law killed Rae Berwanger between March 3, 2019, and March 5, 2019.
Berwanger had only been reported as missing until Law’s arrest last month.
An indictment just unsealed and obtained by 4 News Now does not disclose whether Berwanger’s body was found.
It does say that Law destroyed evidence of the murder sometime between March 3, 2019 and March 21, 2019. That evidence, according to the indictment, was a bed and Berwanger’s cell phone.
The indictment also charges Law with two counts of rape. Prosecutors say in the summer of 2019, Law raped a woman twice. It doesn’t say what Law’s connection is to the woman or how investigators connected him to that assault.
4 News Now has requested investigative documents from the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office to answer some of the questions that aren’t clear in the indictment.
Law is currently being held in the Bonner County Jail.
He’s scheduled for an arraignment Thursday.
