SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane County broke ground Wednesday morning on the Camas Meadow Community Park.
The county said this is the first parks project on the West Plans.
County Parks Director Doug Chase said while construction of the 10-acre park will take around a year to complete, it will be well worth the wait.
“There will be a baseball field, an open turf area that’s large enough for soccer games, a small off-leash dog area, perimeter trail, playground, and a public plaza for community events,” Chase said.
Chase said $6 million in ARPA funding approved by the Board of Commissioners allowed the county to purchase the land and develop the park.
The county is already working to plan future park improvements after the initial phase is complete, including adding pickleball courts, basketball courts and picnic shelters.
