SPOKANE, Wash. — A former Washington ICE officer has been sentenced in federal court for trying to solicit a minor for sex.
49-year-old Koby Don Williams of Ellensburg was sentenced to over 11 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release for one count of Attempted Online Enticement.
According to the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, Williams replied to a Craigslist post that law enforcement set up to catch people who were trying to meet minors for sex in July of 2022.
Williams chatted with the post, thinking he was speaking with a 13-year-old named Rebecca. Court documents said Williams talked about his work in law enforcement and said he would pay to meet the 13-year-old at a hotel for sex.
On July 26, 2022, Williams showed up at the Quality Inn in Othello to meet Rebecca. He instead met with law enforcement and was arrested.
Investigators found Williams’s ICE badge, two bottles of generic Viagra and over $4,000 in case in his vehicle.
Williams said at the trial he did not believe Rebecca was a minor and was instead there to rescue her. The jury found Williams guilty of his charge.
“Mr. Williams held a duty of trust within the Eastern Washington law enforcement community, and he breached that trust by seeking out what he thought was a child for sex. He then attempted to use his position as a law enforcement officer to explain away his conduct,” said U.S. Attorney Vanessa R. Waldref.
