DEER PARK, Wash. — If you went to the Deer Park Dental Clinic on East Crawford Street, Spokane Regional Health District said you should consider getting tested for hepatitis and HIV.
The Washington Department of Health said it was alerted to infection allegations at the clinic in November of 2021. The license of Sandy Fletcher Montano, DDS, was suspended in June 2022 before being indefinitely suspended in April of this year.
The potential infection control breaches included not properly cleaning and disinfecting reusable equipment and not properly getting rid of disposable equipment.
DOH said no other complaints related to Montano’s infection control practices were reported before 2021. Anyone who received care from Montano should talk to their healthcare provider about potential risks and whether they should get tested.
The DOH said the risk of contracting a disease is low, but that only a blood test can reveal if someone is infected.
