MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A man suspected of shooting his mother and stepfather in Othello, Washington was arrested on Monday afternoon, according to Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
On September 15 around 5:30 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported shooting near Sagehill Drive and Rangeview Road in Othello.
When they arrived, deputies found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to the hospital, one in critical condition.
FCSO identified the shooting suspect as 28-year-old Daniel Arceo-Martinez and the victims as his mother and stepfather.
Deputies learned Arceo-Martinez had left the scene after the shooting and began a search for him.
They soon discovered he most likely had made his way to Moses Lake.
With the help of Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Moses Lake Police Department started a search for Arceo-Martinez, who also goes by the name “Butcher.”
Officers set up surveillance near a homeless encampment next to a movie theater and eventually spotted him.
MLPD arrested Arceo-Martinez on September 16 around 3:30 p.m.
He will be transported and booked into Franklin County Jail on first-degree assault charges.
His bail is set at $1 million.
Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated Arceo-Martinez is suspected of shooting his “father-in-law” rather than his stepfather.
