Spokane, WA — This week has brought some relief for Spokane drivers with the completion of major construction projects, such as the Thor/Freya intersection. However, several areas continue to experience traffic disruptions.
Thor/Freya Intersection
For the first full work week in months, the Thor/Freya intersection is now open to drivers. Construction crews had been working diligently on Second and Third Avenues to install new storm, sewer, and water systems. While this caused significant traffic delays, the project is now complete.
Market Street
Southbound Market Street remains closed between Wellesley Avenue and Mission Avenue. Northbound Market Street has been reduced to one lane. Travelers are advised to use Division Street or the Hamilton/Nevada corridor as alternatives. Crews are scheduled to pave this area tonight and tomorrow night.
Lincoln Road
In northwest Spokane, Lincoln Road is currently experiencing lane reductions in both directions between Division and Standard Street. On Thursday, Lincoln Road will be paved between Division and Nevada Street. During this time, Lincoln will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the intersection of Standard Street and Lincoln Road will be closed to both northbound and southbound traffic.
North Spokane Corridor – US 395/S Spokane River to Columbia
The southbound Freya Street roundabout and the northbound North Spokane Corridor off-ramp to Freya Street will be closed from Monday, September 16, through Wednesday, September 18. The closures are for permanent striping, curbing, and drainage work.
Washington-Stevens Corridor
Washington Street is reduced to one lane in each direction between Maxwell and Boone Avenue. Grind and overlay work continues on Stevens and Washington Streets between Spokane Falls Boulevard and 3rd Avenue. Lane restrictions are in place, and the Washington-Stevens Bridge is closed. Drivers are detoured southbound on Washington Street at North River Drive and northbound on Washington Street at Spokane Falls Boulevard.
27th Avenue
Lane closures on 27th Avenue between Southeast Boulevard and Mt. Vernon Street are in effect until October 14. The closures support aerial utility work by Mastec North America.
Drivers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and allow extra time for travel due to these ongoing construction projects.
