FERRY COUNTY, Wash. — A woman is recovering in the hospital from a bear attack in Ferry County Sunday.
According to Washington Fish and Wildlife, the woman walking her dogs on private property on Mint Creek Road southwest of Kettle Falls.
The woman told Fish and Wildlife two bears appeared and one female bear chased the dogs and attacked her.
The woman was taken to a Spokane hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. She was released that same day.
WDFW says on Monday, they located a bear near the scene and killed it. Fish and Wildlife determined the bear they killed was male and not the suspected female bear.
Officials were unable to locate the involved bear and stopped searching when the landowner asked them to.
Fish and Wildlife says they donated the meat of the killed bear to the Air Force.
