CHENEY, Wash — An overnight fire caused significant damage to Turley Logging and Timberland in Cheney.
According to Spokane Fire District 3, the fire started just after midnight on Tuesday, August 20th.
A neighbor saw flames and called 9-1-1.
When fire crews arrived, they found a shop, conex boxes, and a fifth wheel fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters knocked down the fire in 20 minutes and are now accessing hot spots.
According to Tom Turley, owner of Turley Logging and Timberland, the fire may have been caused by an electrical malfunction because the fifth wheel was charging overnight. However, investigators have not released an official cause.
The shop, equipment, and fifth wheel are all a total loss.
Turley, who lives on the property, estimates that the damage is worth no less than $250,000, and it’s not insured.
