The annual American Music Awards were set to air this fall, but the show has been pushed back until May of 2025 in order to broadcast a retrospective special on the awards show in its place. American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special, a two-hour look at the history of the AMA’s and the show’s memorable events and performances, will air on Sunday, October 6. CBS and Dick Clark Productions had previously announced that the 2024 AMAs would run in the October 6 timeslot, which was set to have been the debut for the show on CBS after nearly 50 years on ABC.
American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special will also feature brand new performances along with artist interviews, special guests, and never-before-seen footage from DCP’s vast archives. The special is set to air concurrently on both coasts, from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/5:00-7:00 p.m. PT on CBS while also streaming on Paramount+. (Billboard)
