SPOKANE, Wash.– People in Spokane noticed the thick haze and particular smell outside on Saturday afternoon. After a few days of hot weather, wildfire smoke is back in the Inland Northwest.
Air quality in Spokane Valley fell to “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” on Saturday afternoon.
Winds will shift and bring in smoke out of the south on Sunday, but some improvement in air quality is possible as skies clear and winds pick up a little Sunday afternoon. Overall, air quality will spend most of the next few days at moderate with some brief spikes back to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.
Smoke is unlikely to go away in the week ahead, but may come from different places in a few days. Winds will shift to out of the north around midweek, potentially bringing in smoke from wildfires in Canada.
