SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.– You have less than one week to cast your vote in the Washington primary elections.
If you want to vote in the primaries and haven’t registered to vote yet, don’t worry, you can still do so in person. You’ll just need to do so at the Spokane County Elections office by August 6 at 8 p.m.
CenterPlace Regional Event Center in Spokane Valley will also be open on Election Day 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for those who still need to register in person before the primaries.
An official with the Election’s Office says you’ll just need your driver’s license number or Social Security Number in order to register to vote.
You will get your primary ballot at the same time.
If you still need to drop off your ballot you can do so in person or at any of the drop boxes around the county.
The Spokane County Elections Office says it takes the proper security measures to ensure that your ballot is safe.
There are multiple stages and people in the ballot processing routine: it goes through a sorter where the ballot is verified, then the signature on the ballot is verified.
“If it’s not being processed, they’re in behind locked doors. And, when we leave at night, those doors are sealed,” said Mike McLaughlin, Spokane County Elections Manager. “We have security cameras on all doors and exits watching to make sure there’s no unauthorized access.”
All ballots need to be dropped off by August 6 by 8 p.m. You can track your ballot HERE.
