Robert “Kelly” Ortberg said he plans to be based in Seattle, which would put him closer to Boeing factories that produce several planes, most notably the 737 Max.

As Boeing was founded and previously headquartered in Seattle, Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) expressed satisfaction with the Ortberg’s decision to be based out of Seattle, but said there is still more work to be done.
Senator Murray’s full statement:
“Boeing has a lot of work to do to right the ship and get this company back on track – it’s good the new CEO will be based in Seattle, but they should move the headquarters back to Washington State as well. Boeing should return to its roots, listen to its workers, particularly those who actually build their planes, and put safety and quality first. I hope to meet with Mr. Ortberg very soon.”
Senator Murray has continued to conduct oversight of Boeing in recent weeks. Murray’s staff has met with Boeing officials and workers and visited Boeing’s Renton facility.
In the FY25 Senate spending bill that Murray passed out of the committee in a 28-1 vote, Murray secured $22 billion for the FAA to continue it’s air traffic controller hiring surge and strengthen the oversight of Boeing Aerosystems.
