AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – A stolen license plate led to two suspects being arrested on unrelated warrants in Airway Heights Wednesday night.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, an automated license plate reader alerted deputies to a stolen license plate in the Airway Heights area around 11:35 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies spotted an empty BMW Sedan in a parking lot with the license place. Minutes later, 35-year-old Adam R. Dahlman, went up the the car and was detained by deputies.
The Sheriff’s Office said Dahlman had an unrelated, active felony warrant out of Idaho. Dahlman was arrested as a fugitive for the warrant.
Deputies went to speak with the owner of the BMW, 30-year-old Rhianon T. Aguilar, who was staying in a nearby hotel room.
The Sheriff’s Office said Aguilar recently bought he car and didn’t know the license plate was reported stolen.
Deputies did a quick check of Aguilar’s name, which showed an unrelated misdemeanor warrant for a concealed carry violation. Aguilar was arrested for the warrant.
According to deputies, the car itself was not reported stolen.
Neither Aguilar or Dahlman were charged for possessing stolen property, since deputies said they cannot prove they knew the license plate was stolen.
Aguilar was booked into Spokane County Jail for her misdemeanor warrant. She was released moments later.
Dahlman was booked for his felony warrant out of Idaho and is waiting extradition.
