SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – The man suspected of killing his wife and fleeing the country five years ago has been brought back to Spokane County.
Wahid Kashify was returned to Spokane Thursday afternoon. He has been held in prison in the Netherlands since October 29, 2022.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, a friend of Kashify’s wife, 24-year-old Arezu Z. Kashify, reported her missing on May 30, 2019. The friend said she had not heard from Arezu since May 26 of that year.
That same day, a friend of the couple called Child Protective Services saying Kashify left the couple’s children with them just after midnight on May 26. Kashify claimed his wife left on May 25.
On May 31, 2019, detectives said Wahid boarded a plane and left the country on May 28 traveling to Dubai.
Arezu’s body was found beneath a false bottom in a freezer in the couple’s home on June 4, 2019.
Kashify was booked into Spokane County Jail and will stand trial for first-degree murder.
