NEWMAN LAKE, Wash. — A man was found dead in Newman Lake on April 7, after being reported missing the previous day.
At approximately 3:50 p.m., on April 6, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a missing person report on North Newman Lake Road.
Upon arriving, deputies learned that the 34-year-old man was last seen on the dock on the evening of April 5.
SCSO said firefighters and the emergency operations team searched the lake but suspended efforts that evening after the man was not found.
After several hours of searching, the man had not been located, and the search was suspended for the night.
According to SCSO, the team resumed the search the following day and recovered the body in about 7 feet of water. The water temperature was about 52 degrees, which poses a risk of hypothermia.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the decedent’s name and cause of death when appropriate.
Major Crimes Detectives are investigating, but foul play is not suspected.
