SPOKANE, Wash. — The abrupt closure of Spokane Allergy and Asthma Clinic has left patients shocked and scrambling to find alternative care after the facility shut down unexpectedly on February 18th.
The clinic posted a notice of their closure on Facebook, but many patients remained unaware of the permanent shutdown. Some patients who had scheduled appointments arrived at the facility only to discover the doors were locked.
“It’s always so busy in there. I can’t imagine where all the people are going to go,” said Mary Murphy, a current patient of the clinic.
The clinic has not updated its website to reflect the permanent closure, and as of now are not answering any phone calls. There are also out of state residents who share their concern. One woman who travels an hour from Idaho for the specialized care, shares with us that she’s stressed out about the situation.
Advanced Allergy Asthma Immunology in Spokane Valley posted on their website acknowledging they have received hundreds of calls and are working to accept new patients.
Both MultiCare and Providence health systems report an influx of calls from former patients seeking care. However, MultiCare indicated they do not currently have an allergist specialist on staff to assist patients immediately.
“It’s sad that they’re closing and it’s concerning because it definitely affects quality of life when you’re not able to get what you need,” says Shannon Callant who is a patient at the clinic.
