SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs (20-8, 12-3) women’s basketball team pulled away and crushed Washington State (5-23, 4-11) to remain tied for first place in the WCC.
The Zags held the Cougars to 2-16 from deep and only allowed three offensive rebounds. Jaiden Haile and Lauren Whittaker dominated the paint, both recording double-doubles.
Ines Bettencourt had one of her better games of the season, scoring a tied season-high 16 points and locking down WSU star guard Eleonora Villa.
WSU had a worse performance than their last tighter performance hosting Gonzaga, but they did limit the turnover issue to just nine.
The Cougs next travel to the Oregon State Beavers this Saturday, while the Zags head to Stockton to face the Pacific Tigers also on Saturday.
