COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — A Coeur d’Alene man has been sentenced to prison for battery with the intent to commit a serious felony.
According to the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office, 19-year-old Gunner Ray Hankel was sentenced on Tuesday to 20 years in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years.
The prosecutor’s office said on January 11, Hankel was a guest in a home where the 16-year-old victim was babysitting. While the victim was asleep on the couch, Hankel used his hand to forcibly penetrate the victim.
At that time, Hankel was still on juvenile probation for lewd conduct with a minor under 16. He received this previous conviction in 2018 after sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child.
