Phyllis Stephens

Local gardening expert and horticulture specialist, Phyllis Stephens hosts a seasonal two hour call-in gardening talk show, The Lawn and Garden Show, from 10 to noon, Saturdays  on KXLY 920. The Lawn and Garden Show will return to KXLY 920/100.3 FM on March 19th, 2016.   Phyllis will still answer your lawn and garden questions during the winter, by using the email and/or Facebook links below.  A Spokane native, Stephens has deep roots in talking to people about gardening.

In addition to her work with KXLY, she is a past owner of a horticulture consulting and landscape design business, wrote a weekly column for the Spokesman-Review for more than a decade, was a guest speaker at the Pacific Northwest Flower Show in Seattle on three occasions, and was also the charter president and two-time past president of the Friends of Manito. She’s also served on the Spokane Fair Board for 7 years and was honored as the Woman of Distinction in Communication for Matrix. Phyllis was also the Honorary Grand Marshall of the Lilac Parade in 2002, and has been a member of the Spokane Symphony Chorale for 15 years.

When not sharing her love for gardening with everyone else, she’s busy on her own garden at home, which has also been featured in a Spokane public yard tour, won a garden of the month contest in 2006, and was also featured on Ed Hume’s Gardening in America program.
